Game description: In the third installment in the Metal Gear Solid series, you play as Naked Snake, an elite tactical soldier. Snake is sent on a dangerous mission to both infiltrate enemy territory and uncover the secrets behind a newly created weapon of mass destruction. Survival within the jungle environments and its unpredictable settings requires basic animal instincts, as well as advanced combat and hunting skills. Set in the 1960s, the game features different types of camouflage, open-ended environments, and an array of new weapons and moves.

BIOS: USA v2.00, Needs a powerful machine to play right. The cutscenes are the biggest problem. Setting the SPU2-X Synchronizing Mode to "Async" may speed up the cutscenes but can cause stutter and out of sync problems in game. Doesn't respond well to big resolutions. | Machina |

Bios v 2.0 was used. GSdx Renderer: Direct3D10 (Software). The game still has the same glitches that were present in 0.9.8. I would recommend switching to Hardware mode for the cut scenes for the up-scaling benefits, but switching to Software mode for the game play. | Zrooney |

Game froze after the cutscene before the battle with The Boss, when the battle was supposed to load. Resetting and skipping the cutscene fixed this, so this was probably just a one-off. When picking up items, the text describing the item was often cut off and some letters were flickering. There is a faint grid pattern when certain lighting effects are on screen (most noticeable in the battle with The Sorrow). As with MGS2, lag was limited to cutscenes without speedhacks, usually when the game was targeting 60fps, and was generally less severe and less common than in MGS2 (the only cutscene with noticeable lag was before the battle with The End). Setting EE Cycle Skip to Mild Underclock eliminated almost all the lag, though there was still some in the ending. However, this caused very poor performance in the escort mission with Eva (no lag, but framerate was around 15fps), so I disabled speedhacks for that. Fully playable. | PandoraGTX |
