Game description: The game is based around tuning cars for street races, resuming the Need for Speed: Underground storyline. Need for Speed: Underground 2 provides several new features, such as a broader customization, new methods of selecting races, the "explore" mode (just driving around freely, like the Midnight Club series, in a large city known as "Bayview").
Underground 2 also introduces SUVs to the Need for Speed franchise, which could be customized as extensively as any other vehicls and are used to race against other SUV racers.

Patches not required now. You will need to use skip draw = 1 to make it playable in gsdx HW mode. Some effects seems to be missing/messed up but doesn't effect gameplay. | |

Europe v02.00(14/06/2004), Recommended + MTVU, Automatic Game Fixes, You need set skipdraw to 1, otherwise you'll get 5-10 FPS in-game. Enabling 8-bit textures increases speed by 5 FPS. With it and recommended speedhacks I get 40-50 FPS in-game. The only way to get constant full speed is to crank up VU Cycle Stealing to the max but this will cause slight sound crackling. Some special effects appear incorrectly. |
Known Issues
Heavy VRam usage
- Status: Active
- Type: Major
- Description: When using GSdx, framerates can drop to 5FPS due to heavy VRam usage, fine if you have enough VRam in your graphics card.
- Workaround: Using Skipdraw=1 in GSdx reduces the VRam usage by a large amount.
Exaggerated motion blur
- Status: Active
- Type: Minor
- Description: Motion blur in races appears exaggerated.
- Workaround: Using software mode (F9) in GSdx fixes this issue.
