pre 0.9.7 beta | ? | ? | Try to avoid any combination of EE Cyclerate and VU Cycle Stealing.
Most of the time this will lead to false FPS readings and slowdowns instead of more speed. Running the game as an ISO image directly from your hard drive is also a good idea. If you have Windows Vista or later use the "DirectX10/11 (Hardware)" renderer option in GSdx, it's usually faster and more compatible than the DirectX9 one. The VSync option in the settings of "GS Window" settings should be deactivated, use PCSX2's Frame Limiter to keep your game from running too fast. Many reaction-based minigames are easier if you use the Slow Motion Adjust toggle (Shift+Tab), as the speed of the gameplay will be slowed down by half (or what you have set in the GS tab for the toggle). On the other hand, if your computer is able to run this game at considerably more than 60 FPS, you can fast forward long conversations or your level grinding with either the Turbo Adjust toggle (Tab) or by disabling the Frame Limiter completely (F4). Recommended to disable Allow 8-bit textures in GSdx. Speedhacks/Settings: EE Cyclerate (2): Noticeable speedup, setting it to 3 causes problems in FMVs. INTC Sync Hack: Small if any speedup, no issues. Idle Loop Fast Forward: Noticeable speedup, no issues. VU Cycle Stealing: Noticeable speedup, but have issues if set higher than 1 (slight). MTVU: Noticeable speedup in quad(4)core CPUs. |

0.9.9 (r5102) | GSdx | ? | Constant 60 FPS. Using 4x resolution causes the framerate to drop slightly when summoning Shiva. There is a FMV glitch after Yunalesca battle, when Tidus watches Sin. To fix it, do as the above mentioned. | Livy |

Europe v02.00(14/06/2004), IPUWaitHack, From start to finish (including Dark Aeons and Penance), it rarely ever dropped below 50 FPS. The scene where you learn the Jecht Shot is buggy if you use a keyboard, in particular the ↓→+X doesn't seem to register effectively., Resolution higher than Native causes numbers to display as _### | |
NTSC-J | ? |
|
0.9.9 (r5326) | GSdx | ? | Full speed 99% of the time. 50 FPS in some scenes of Mi'ihen Highroad. Briefly drops to 50 FPS when casting Demi and 25 FPS when summoning Shiva (full sequence). There is a glitch in a variety of FMVs, fix it by pressing F9 to toggle to software mode, but feel free to toggle back to hardware mode immediately. To prevent FMV glitches at the first place, either turn off all speedhacks or using native resolution. | Livy |

Mostly full speed with minor slowdowns in certain situations like areas making heavy use of GS's software edge anti-aliasing (Guadosalam estate). Using HW modes or disabling the AA in SW eliminates slowdown but also causes graphical issues (see below). | Nyahello |
NTSC-U | Windows 10 64-bit |

Minor artifacting on 2D graphics e.g. menus. Gap in one tree in Macalania Woods, but not elsewhere. Lag when summoning Shiva (full sequence), but not when using Demi or Hellfire (other known laggy areas). MTVU may well eliminate the Shiva lag. Otherwise full speed. Fully playable. | PandoraGTX |

1.2.2 | GSdx | SPU2-X | Super easy to emulate, responds well to VU Cycle Stealing as there are some slowdowns CPU-wise, but not much; will slow down on Demi and Fire spells due to GPU bottleneck; is fully playable with some buggy areas that are already well documented; use whatever GPU driver works best for you (as long as it supports minimum required OpenGL version) | DaTankAC |
