In the original Spy Hunter, a popular arcade game, the player drives a souped-up spy car with Bond fittings. While the original was viewed from high above, Midway revamped it with next generation graphics and a behind the car view. One of the staff members involved in the game's development was British stand-up comedian Imran Yusuf.

Game description: The evil NOSTRA Corporation prepares to unleash havoc on the world, and only the SpyHunter is equipped to stop them. Get behind the wheel of the powerful G-6155 Interceptor, a vehicle that can transform into a boat, Jet Ski, or motorcycle. With an arsenal of both offensive and defensive weapons, you must elude NOSTRA spies, henchmen, and assassins at any cost. Hordes of air, ground, and water enemies pursue you as you try to save the world from the mind of a madman.
Your mission is to stop the enemy spies from progressing with their plans. Your car is fitted with advanced gadgets and weapons, like no other. Upgrades are achieved as you go from city to city all across the world to prevent the world from being taken from the enemy.

Trivia

Known Issues

Rearview mirror doesn't work

  • Status: Active
  • Type: Minor
  • Description: In hardware mode, the rearview mirror is just a plain blue bar, with no objects being displayed.
  • Workaround: Go to config - video (GS) - plugin settings and set renderer to OpenGL Hardware, and set Blending Unit Accuracy to at least "Basic (recommended)". Or set the renderer to any of the software modes.

Fixed Issues

Levels Load Slowly

  • Status: Fixed
  • Type: Major
  • Description: When you try to play a level, it takes a while for every object to be rendered. Making the game unplayable.
  • Workaround:
  1. You must be using a version of PCSX2 compiled after 7/June/2014
  2. Under Game Fixes you must enable Delay V1F1 Stalls.

FMV aren't shown in hardware modes

  • Status: Fixed
  • Type: Minor
  • Description: In the hardware modes FMV's aren't shown, the screen will remain black while audio plays.
  • Workaround: Has been fixed in PCSX2 GIT revisions as of the 21st of April, 2016. For older PCSX2 versions: Temporarily switch to software mode by pressing F9 or go to Config - Emulation Setings - Game Fixes tab ans turn on the game fix 'Switch to GSdx software rendering when an FMV plays'.

Cutscene Blur

  • Status: Fixed
  • Type: Minor
  • Description: On the right edge of every cutscene, the video is blurred off. This is only present if the resolution is changed from native.
  • Workaround: Use a version of PCSX2 compiled after 7/June/2015
