  • Intel Pentium Dual-Core (3.6GHz)
  • Nvidia 9600GT 512MB
0.9.8 GSDX r4600
  • SPU2-X r4600
  • Lilypad r4510
BIOS: USA v2.00, HACKS: Hacks: INTC, Wait Idle Loop, mVU Flag Hack, Allow 8-bit Textures (GSdx). Using EE/VU cycle speedhacks increase the speed but reduce the smoothness, not recommended. Reducing clamps cause more issues, not recommended. After GSdx r4600 the game is much slower, recommended to use GSdx r4600 max. FPS: 40-60/60. Can get 60/60FPS using the cycle rate speedhacks. NTSC-J Windows
  • Intel Core2 Duo E8500 @ 3.16Ghz

  • SPU2-X 2.0.0 5695
  • LilyPad 0.11.0 5403
Still playable., Software mode is needed to avoid black lines (same problem as SC2) and dull colors in rendering (wrong filtering maybe?, but hacks don't seem to fix it).

pcsx2 v1.7.2647 AVX2 Core. Core(Xaudio2). Looks and runs great. Vulkan HW, Preset 3(Balanced), 3x Internal Resolution, 60fps (Lensflares/lightshafts in game can cause small fps dips). Nado

NTSC-U Garuda Linux (Arch)

  • SPU-X 2.0.0
  • OnePAD 20200505220805 1.3.0 [libonepad-legacy]
The game runs fine without many issues on my end, even with the sprite alignment. I just have CRC set to Patial, Blending to default, NTSC BIOS v2.00, 8-Bit Textures enabled, and safe features disabled in my machine. I do, however get facial glitches, and sometimes even get a blue screen with hud in Training. Neigdoig
NTSC-U Garuda Linux (Arch)5.17.4 Zen Kernel
  • AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
  • AMD Radeon 5700XT Open Source Drivers
Nightly 1.7.2651 GSdx OpenGL, and Software Renderer
  • Cubeb
  • Automatically Configured
Runs perfect with default settings,no hacks. Turning Hacks on causes issues with black lines running through the screen. There is no benefit. I have also upscaled to 2k, have FXAA, and 2x Ani Filtering enabled. Absolutely works out of the box in Nightly on Linux. I've played this prior with Ubuntu, and Fedora. Anything above PCSX2 version 1.6 should run this fantastic with OpenGL, and Software mode.

Vulkan will crash PCSX2

Slippingstones

Trivia

  • Original names: ソウルキャリバーIII (SLPS-25577), 소울칼리버 Ⅲ (SCKA-20059)
  • Access the Progressive Scan menu by holding the cross and triangle keys together when the game boots up.
  • The game sets to widescreen when it is prompted by the 16:9 ratio setting in the PS2 internal menu(BIOS).

Notes

  • If you are having trouble with frame drops due to the costly effects you should consider using "Async mix" rather than "Time-stretched" in audio options (it doesn't break the game).

Fixed issues

Performance Loss With "Texture Preloading" set to: "Full (Hash Cache)"

  • Status: Fixed
  • Type: Minor
  • Description: As of Pcsx2 version 1.7.3039 "Texture preloading: Full (Hash Cache)" was made default. For best performance in SoulCalibur 3 you will want to set it "partial".
  • Workaround: "Texture Preloading: Partial" added to autofixes in the latest 1.7 dev builds (tested v1.7.3140).

Ghosting

  • Status: Fixed
  • Type: Minor
  • Description: At higher than native resolutions in Hardware mode, ghosting occurs.
  • Workaround: Fixed in the latest 1.7 dev builds (tested v1.7.2647), for older versions go to Config > Video (GS) > Plugin Settings, click "Enable HW Hacks", go to Configure Hacks, and enable "Half Pixel Offset: Normal (Vertex)" hack.

Thin vertical lines

  • Status: Fixed
  • Type: Minor
  • Description: Vertical black lines appear when running the game in any resolution that's higher than native. This issue also occurs in various other Namco titles.
  • Workaround: Fixed in the latest 1.7 dev builds (tested v1.7.2647), for older versions go to Config > Video (GS) > Plugin Settings, click "Enable HW Hacks", go to Configure Hacks, and enable "Align Sprite" hack.

SPS (Spikey Polygon Syndrome)

  • Status: Fixed
  • Type: Minor
  • Description: Sometimes while playing parts of the character's body look like falling off or going across the screen.
  • Workaround: Fixed in the latest 1.7 dev builds, for older versions go to Config > Emulation Settings, VUs tab, and set Clamping Mode to "Extra".

Respawn Issues

  • Status: Fixed
  • Type: Minor
  • Description: Sometimes after a character falls from the arena and respawns it's facing the wrong way or the camera is stuck someplace else.
  • Workaround: Fixed in the latest 1.7 dev builds, for older versions go to Config > Emulation Settings, VUs tab, and set Clamping Mode to "Extra".

Progressive mode bugged

  • Status: Fixed
  • Type: Minor
  • Description: Using Progressive Mode in the game makes it run at half speed but with music playing at normal rate.
  • Workaround: This issue has been resolved as of the stable release PCSX2 v1.4.0. Use the latest dev builds.

Stages too dark

  • Status: Fixed
  • Type: Minor
