Game description: Sly and his crew are back and ready to pull off another series of big heists. Word is out that Interpol has excavated the robotic remains of Clockwerk--Sly's nemesis and sworn enemy of the Cooper clan--and it's up to you to prevent it from being reassembled. To do this, you must once again enter the thieving world of pickpocketing, vent crawls, rooftop chases, and stealth attacks. Sly 2: Band of Thieves takes you on an adventure across numerous locations, including Paris, Prague, India, and the Canadian Wilderness.

EE/VU Rounding: Chop/Zero, INTC Spin Detection, Automatic Gamefixes., 30-60FPS at cutscenes/in-game. Full speed at menus., Sound glitches and high pitched audio/pixelization. Unsure why this happens.

Speedhacks: MTVU Enabled - Default Preset 2 (Safe) Emulation settings, 1080p, 3x Internal Resolution, and MSAA 4x with absolutely no lag during cutscenes and large maps like older PCSX2 versions. Also recommend TC offset X 280, Y 580 as best I could get to fix ghosting. MSAA doesn't seem to have any defects, except for slight texture forming which an untrained eye cannot see. Still has shadow bounding box issues in the titlescreen intro and a couple other areas. Alpha stencil fixes this but breaks model shadows. There is noticeable health bar bounding issues that flicker, but it doesn't bother gameplay.
PAL Windows 10 Pro x64
  • Intel Xeon X5460 4Ghz
  • EVGA GTX480 SSC @830 Core
1.5.0 GSdx32-SSE4 SPU2-X BIOS: Europe v1.6

Finished the game and didnt have any issues. Used only recommended speed hacks, and EE set to -2

PAL Windows 10 Home x64
  • Intel Core 6600K
  • Palit Geforce GTX 1060 6GB
1.5.0 GSdx32-AVX
  • Mode: HW OpenGL
  • Disabled "Allow 8-bit textures"
  • Skipdraw = 1
Spu2-X BIOS: Europe v1.6

Restricting 8-bit textures led to the game being 100% playable with no slowdowns

Known Issues

Incorrect Line Upscaling

  • Status: Fixed
  • Type: Minor
  • Description: When upscaling the game to higher resolution, the cel shader outlines become too thick and aren't in their right place.
  • Workaround: Resolved sometime ago in 1.7.X builds. For older versions, consider ticking the "Disable Safe Features" hack.

<-- The game being slow in certain scenes is not an issue but expected behavior. The advise below can scare and overwhelm users who read it, especially since they don't have clear context of how old this entry is. Create a github issue instead if any part of the game is unnaturally slow compared to the rest of it.

Slow Motion happening in certain areas of the game

  • Status: Active
  • Type: Minor
  • Description: When in certain areas or when certain things are on screen at the same time the speed drops for some reason causing the game to feel like its in slow motion
  • Workaround: Under speedhacks slide the VU Cycle Stealing to the right until the issue no longer happens.

Note: No noticable side effects from this. Also this was tested on PCSX2 1.4.0 with EE Cyclerate set to 2 with Enable fast CDVD on. GSdx was also using the SSE41 plugin with the following settings Dx11(hw), internal resolution 3x, Texture Filtering Nearest, Full CRC. HW hacks were Alpha and Alpha stencil with Preload Data Frame and sprite set to half. Graphics card being a RX 460 and the CPU model was a ryzen 1500x

Update: If the above does not help, setting the Clamping Mode option in the VUs menu under Emulation Settings to 'Extra' seems to help a great deal. Note that this issue is compounded by higher internal resolutions under your video plugin setting, so set the clamping mode and then reduce the internal resolution setting until the game runs consistently at full speed. This bug is worse in 1.7.0 build. -->
