Game description: James Sunderland goes to Silent Hill after receiving a letter written by his deceased wife saying that she is waiting for him in their "special place". Along with a girl named Maria (who strongly resembles his wife) he searches for and discovers the truth about his wife's death.

Test configuration on Windows:

PCSX2 version: 0.9.8.r4600
Graphics by GSDX: r4600 0.1.16
Sound by SPU2-X: r4779 2.0.0
Pad plugin is LilyPad: r4510 0.10.0
DVD plugin is cdvdGigaherz: r4510 0.8.0
BIOS version: USA v01.60

Comments: Only just started; configured, played a bit, saved game. Sound seems OK with Interp. 4/Xaudio2/150ms latency/Timstretch, although it can be a little "echo-y" in cutscenes. The use of dense fog in this game results in an uneven framerate (with frame skip disabled). Running fullscreen with custom window size 640x1032 (not a typo: check the title bar for the PS2 resolution) on a 1080p TV. Dynamic vsync off. D3D10 mode, 3x native scaling. Disc is an ISO on HDD. Playing with Dualshock 3 using libUSB/sixaxis64. Automatic Gamefixes is on. Hack comments: Unknown if any of these make a difference, but they're what I default to:

  • VU Cycle Stealing 3rd "notch"
  • INTC Sync Hack
  • Idle Loop Fast Forward
  • mVU Flag Hack
  • mVU Block Hack

Test configuration on Linux:

PCSX2 version: untested
Graphics by ZZogl: untested
Sound by SPU2-X: untested

PC specs used to test the game:

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 430 (stepping 02) @ 2.27GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M (8.17.12.9551)

Comments: FMVs won't play normally with scaled resolution and HW rendering. In other words, hit F9 when movies start :). FMVs play slowly; sound is skippy and pitches up and down.
