New category for online games
Hey what do you guys think of making a new category for games with online capabilities like the SOCOM series and the Resident Evil: Outbreak series? That would make them easier to find here in the wiki. -Karasuhebi (talk) 14:27, 25 August 2015 (BST)

:Any of these are playable in PCSX2 online? --Ngng (talk) 15:28, 25 August 2015 (BST)
:Oh, and btw, I'll add the max number of players to all game pages pretty soon, it's not the same, but it's the only info I can get. --Ngng (talk) 18:35, 25 August 2015 (BST)
:::Well PCSX2 definitely has support for the ethernet adapter via the DEV9 plugin so theoretically any game that had online capabilities on the PS2 has the same capabilities in PCSX2, but it all depends on if the game servers are still up. For example, Resident Evil: Outbreak's servers are no longer online, so you can't even play the game online on a PS2 using the official servers. But there is a group of fans that made and host their own Outbreak server(s) at http://obsrv.org/ and people use PCSX2 to play Outbreak online just fine. So the long and short of it is that you have to manually check every game and see if their servers are still online. I don't see how any of this is relevant though, even if you can't play most of these games online anymore it would still be nice to have them all in a category so they are easy to find. -Karasuhebi (talk) 18:47, 25 August 2015 (BST)
:Now I'm not trying to argue about relevance but I don't have this kind of information at my disposal. All I have is the maximal number of players. If you know some source or list to mark all such games (Wikipedia probably may have this kind of info), I could add a variable to infobox. Additionally we need a suitable icon for this. --Ngng (talk) 20:55, 25 August 2015 (BST)
::I found this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_2_online_games. I'm actually not a big fan of having more icons to be honest, I'd rather it just be a category at the bottom. Text is preferred over images IMO.  I'm still a big advocate of keeping the wiki professional-looking. -Karasuhebi (talk) 00:20, 26 August 2015 (BST)
:Okay, looks like a nice list, thanks (although probably incomplete as mostly every list in Wikipedia)! Don't worry, these games will also be added in a corresponding category, but I have to disagree with you about Wikipedia professionalism. The more I look the more I understand what harm this "free" resource has done to the free internet. But it's not a topic to discuss here, isn't it. --Ngng (talk) 06:35, 26 August 2015 (BST)
Which region's game cover to use?
From what I've seen we mostly use NTSC-U covers, but what if the NTSC-U cover is inferior? Should we go for the NTSC-J cover or the PAL cover? I would imagine if the NTSC-J and the PAL covers are basically the same, as is the case with ICO, then we use the NTSC-J cover since that the original cover. But what about when the cover from the PAL regions is different than the one from NTSC-J, as is the case with DMC3: SE? Which one do we use? -Karasuhebi (talk) 00:33, 11 September 2015 (BST)
DMC3: SE - NTSC-J cover: http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps2/930014-devil-may-cry-3-special-edition/images/box-70216
DMC3: SE - PAL cover: http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps2/930014-devil-may-cry-3-special-edition/images/box-76306
:I think any cover will do (but we can put cover arts in the galleries). The infobox can only contain one cover unfortunately, no way around it. If I will get the permission from Game FAQs to use their cover arts for those titles that do not have covers, I'd instruct my bot to download the first available I guess. --Ngng (talk) 06:58, 11 September 2015 (BST)
Missing game entries
Just noticed that certain games are completely absent from the official compatibility list and the wiki itself(namely Super Robot Wars titles). Any reason why?. Vibhor (talk) 21:26, 3 April 2017 (BST)
:Super Robot Wars = Super Robot Taisen (titles are usually copied from GameFAQs, no matter how wrong/incomplete the translation is).
::Ah that explains it. Vibhor (talk) 22:47, 3 April 2017 (BST)
:Putting aside an obvious exaggeration about wrong titles (most of the titles were possibly copied as transliterated from retail listings; at the time no "correct" translations might have even existed) we can always add AKAs, create redirects and rename the most offending titles. --Ngng (talk) 18:44, 4 April 2017 (BST)
