|Comments=Noticeable lag in the opening cutscene, but this was before I enabled MTVU. Full speed (for emulation), but the game lags even on PS2. I tried VU cycle stealing, but that just made the framerate even more inconsistent (sometimes it'd lag and sometimes it'd run too fast). No crashes or other major issues. Fully playable. Generally, though, there's no real reason to play this over the PC version.

Game description: Max Payne is a man with nothing to lose--a fugitive undercover cop framed for murder, and now hunted by the cops and the mob. As Payne, you'll uncover plot twists, engage in dramatic "bullet-time" firefights with thugs, and fight your way through an unforgiving New York blizzard. Max can wield a variety of weapons including pistols, submachine guns, shotguns, sniper rifles, grenades, and Molotov cocktails. Prepare yourself for an involving story combined with slick action.
The first game of the Max Payne trilogy. It centers on the NYPD Detective Max Payne, who attempts to avenge the murder of his family. It features a gritty neo-noir style and uses graphic novel panels (with voice-overs) in place of animated cutscenes to narrate the game.

Fixed Issues

Random crash

  • Status: Fixed
  • Type: Serious
  • Description: The game will randomly crash in older versions if the EE clamp mode is not on the "full" level.
  • Workaround: As been fix in recent 1.5dev build as long as automatic game fix is enable, for older version, put the EE clamping mode on full.
