Game description: Set in the near future during a period of planetary colonization, Killzone drops you in the middle of a war between the ISA Command and a militaristic separatist faction, the Helghast. As one of four ISA members, your initial objective is to escort a high-ranking official to an evacuation point. You can experience several gameplay modes, including single-player, multiplayer (team-based and competitive), and online play for up to 12 players. Players can equip themselves with an armory of more than 27 different weapons based on modern technology.
Killzone is a first-person shooter, developed by Netherlands-based Guerrilla Games and released on November 2, 2004 in North America. The game features four playable characters and several gameplay modes including single-player, multiplayer and online play for up to 16 people. Killzone allows players to equip themselves with an armory of more than 27 different weapons including 21 first-person weapons, five emplaced weapons, and hand grenades. More than 45 levels, encompassing 11 intricately detailed environments showcase the harsh setting of a war-ridden planet, coupled with a unique graphical style designed to capture the grit and realism of intense military engagements.

INTC Spin detection, Wait Loop Detection, Fast CDVD, mVU flag hack, EE Cyclerate 1; GSDX: Alpha Hack, Skipdraw 2. Full screen graphical glitch, edit your inis/GSDX.ini add in allowhacks=1 at the end. Now go to GSDX options and enable Alpha Hack, and set Skipdraw to 2. Don't enable scaling until you reach the main menu, it causes the opening SCEE credits to run at ~15fps. Quad-core HIGHLY recommended. Soren121

Trivia

  • Original names: KILLZONE (SLPM-66151), キルゾーン (SLPM-66151), 킬 존 (SCKA-20048)

Known Issues

Black/white vertical lines

  • Status: Active
  • Type: Minor
  • Description: In Direct3D hardware modes thick black/white vertical lines appearing during standard gameplay.
  • Workaround: Go to Config - Video(GS) - Plugin Settings menu, and set Renderer to "OpenGL Hardware", or for Direct3D 9 & 11 hardware modes, set CRC Hack Level to "Partial(OpenGL Recommended)". Non-recommended alternative: Set skipdraw to '2' under the Plugin Settings menu -- Hacks.

Luger's thermal vision (Lines)

  • Status: Active
  • Type: Serious
  • Description: Thick black/white vertical lines appearing when Luger's night vision is activated.
  • Workaround: Set skipdraw to '3' (Located in plugin settings, under hacks.) WARNING: This may introduce other graphical errors such as on the character selection menu, and game starting sequence.

Luger's thermal vision (Incorrect colors)

  • Status: Active
  • Type: Serious
  • Description: Incorrect color palette is displayed when Luger's thermal vision is activated. (Potentially completely bugged)
  • Workaround: Setting skipdraw to '3' may remove color distortion (from purple to translucent). This setting may make her 'thermal'-vision usable, however, a workaround is still being created in order to emulate the colors similar to the ones featured in native PS2 gameplay (Thermal palette). WARNING: Setting skipdraw to '3' may introduce other graphical errors such as on the character selection menu, and game starting sequence.

Mounted turret's flickering textures

  • Status: Active
  • Type: Minor
  • Description: Textures on the mounted turret may flicker.
  • Workaround: In progress.

Game stutters (pscx2 microVU1: Program cache limit reached.)

  • Status: Active
  • Type: Serious
  • Description: Depending on the player's emulation settings, players may experience slight split second pauses within gameplay. This may occur multiple times throughout the playthrough. An error code within the pcsx2 console is usually presented: "pscx2 microVU1: Program cache limit reached." Crashes may be accompanied with these errors/freezes.
  • Workaround: In progress.
