Game description: Enter the world of urban street racing with the latest title in the hit Need for Speed series: Need for Speed: Underground. Take on today's most popular tuner cars from Mitsubishi Motors, Subaru, Toyota and many more, earning cash for car mods. Test your skills against the computer or online against up to 4 players. But creating a custom street racing machine will not get you to the top; it takes a certain amount of attitude and razor sharp driving skills to compete in the tough world of urban racing.
Underground completely rebooted the franchise, ignoring the previous Need for Speed games. It was the first game in the series to offer a career mode featuring a storyline, and a garage mode that allowed players to fully customize their cars with a large variety of brand-name performance and visual upgrades, as well as new game modes like 'Drifting' and 'Drag racing'.

Trivia
- Original names: ニード・フォー・スピード アンダーグラウンド (SLPM-65471) & (SLPM-65614), 니드 포 스피드: 언더그라운드 (SLKA-25136)
- Also known as Need for Speed Underground J-Tune (JP)
Known Issues
Broken motion blur
- Status: Active
- Type: Minor
- Description: Motion blur in races appears exaggerated.
- Workaround: Using Skipdraw=6 in GSdx removes the motion blur. For splitscreen use 7. Note that this can still cause graphical issues.
