One weird glitch I saw was on dirt tracks, the plumes of dirt seem to be transparent and can be seen through hills and can be seen coming out of the middle of the back of the car. Still use recommended hacks for maximum performance. Bios v 2.0 was used.
|Comments=Runs above full speed. Needed to set EE clamping mode manually to full so the text that says the time between you and the first car to display correctly. Looks like this needs to be added to game fixes GameIndex.dbf so it can auto change the EE clamping mode to full. Some rare random slowdowns that happened randomly in the races, no specific reason but in last less than a second. Other than that the game works perfect.
|Comments=Only problem is that in a race it is too slow (20-30 fps) and the game doesn't work with frame skipping. With hardware video acceleration enabled in GSdx, it is twice as slow. The problem seems to be the CPU.
==Hacks and Performance==
*The MTVU hack may increase speed in quad core CPUs. This varies in dual-core CPUs as it may increase depending on the race but may cause slowdown in others.
*Other hacks can cause crashes or the game won't boot. This game requires a ton of personal tinkering to get it to run decent.This game also has very, VERY high system requirements (expect to use at least an i5 or an FX 6300 above). Don't expect a smooth or stable game. Slowdowns are heavy and very prevalent. It mostly depends on track, the lighting and the amount of cars on screen.
*The "Allow 8-bit textures" in GSdx may help with speed a bit more and maybe reduce the VRAM slowdowns.
*If you are using software mode and have 4 cores or more (this includes hyperthreaded cores, as PCSX2 takes advantage of this), set the "extra software threads" to the amount of total threads in your CPU minus one (4 cores, threads to "3", 8 cores, threads to "7", etc.). This can provide a noticeable speedup in any game running in software mode, but beware that only native resolution can be used.
# If you get lots of crashes during license tests use a lower internal resolution in GSdx or use ZeroGS or ZZOgl. Expect much slower speeds from using ZeroGS or ZZOgl.
# In GSdx, Hardware AA can cause the game to crash a lot. Set the AA level to 0. Running the game with native resolution seems to help as well.
==Trivia==
*This game is extremely CPU and GPU intensive, it was running between 20 and 30 FPS even on the original Playstation 2. Setting VU Cycle Stealing to 2 or even 3 helps the game tremendously.
*Also known as '''Wander to Kyozou''' in Japan, '''Wanda to Kyozou''' in Korea
*Offical PCSX2 1.1.0 gameplay video: [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47k62Brlpgo Link]

==CPU Requirements==

The game's performance varies significantly depending on the CPU being used to run it. PCSX2 runs better on Intel CPU's than their AMD equivalents, and so does Shadow of the Colossus. However, AMD CPUs are more appropriately designed for gaming PC's and often represent good value for money when it comes to price vs performance in general.

===Standards for Maximum Performance===

To achieve 60 frames-per-second, your CPU must meet all of the following requirements and have the necessary speedhacks enabled.
* The CPU must be an Intel-brand; not AMD
* Due to architectural improvements, the CPU should utilize the latest Micro-architecture in the series
* The Clock speed must be over 4.0 GHz (The only Intel CPU with a base clock this high is the i7-4790K. Most other CPUs will need an overclock).
* VU Cycle Stealing should be set to level 1 or 2

===Intel Processors===

For Intel, I recommend either the '''i7-4790K Quad-Core 4.0 GHz''', or the nearly equally as powerful '''i5-4690K 3.5 GHz'''. The i5 is usually around $100 cheaper than the i7. Even a CPU as old as the i5-2500K still holds up pretty well, easily achieving playable framerates.

Any overclocking that you can do to these CPUs will be to your benefit, which is why I suggested the unlocked variants of these CPUs. However, you will not be in much of a pickle if you get a locked CPU.

===AMD Processors===

AMD processors are generally cheaper than their Intel equivalents, but they don't perform as well with PCSX2 because of their architecture, even with an extremely high clock speed. (In most AMD Processors, the number of Floating-Point-Units is half the number of total CPU cores. This means that each Floating-Point-Unit is shared between two cores.) Thus, AMD processors should only be used if low price is a serious matter for you. Also, since they only have half the number of FPUs to Cores, they should have as many cores as possible to help compensate when the MTVU hack is enabled.

If money is a problem, I'd recommend the '''FX-8350 Eight-Core 4.0 GHz''', which sells for $195 USD. However, the performance will be inconsistent. Most of the game will run at about 20-30 frames-per-second, but the ending cutscenes and a few colossus battles will drop to 10-20 frames-per-second. On few specific occasions, there will be some serious slowdowns, albeit not unplayable (they can easily be averted by experimenting with different camera angles). To be fair though, most of the game will still run slightly better than it did on the original Playstation 2.

|Workaround=Enable the "Half-Pixel Offset" hack in the GSdx plugins menu. This will re-align the texture. (No longer working in r5875 USE 4x native for 1080p monitors)

|Description=Enabling the "Half-Pixel Offset" hack to realign the textures results in flickering white lines along the top and left borders of the screen.
|Workaround=Adjust the Zoom in the main emulation settings to 102.60%, and set the screen display to "Fit to Screen/Window". This will cause the game to take up the full computer screen with just enough zoom to bypass the flickering borders. You can then adjust the display in-game in the options menu to your liking (4:3 or 16:9).

{{Issue
|IssueName=Audio/Video Mis-Synchronization
|IssueLevel=-1
|Description=In this case, scenes within the Shrine of Worship don't emulate at full speed, and as a result, the audio/video during the ending cutscenes (which mostly take place within the Shrine) become unsynchronized by several seconds because the video is unable to keep up with the audio.
|Workaround=This problem only occurs if your CPU is not efficient enough at Floating-point operations to run the scenes at full speed, even with the appropriate Speedhacks enabled. This happened to me when I was using an AMD FX-8120 due to it's clock rate and mediocre FPU efficiency. As a result, the solution to this problem is to have either of the recommended CPUs above, or to have a CPU with the sufficient architecture and clock rate for decent emulation.
Also i found while testing, the missing polys at the bottom of the screen can either be solved by using "extra" VU clamping while using MicroVU or switch to Super VU with normal clamping. |Comments= Game runs fine at 5X native resolution. Some slight hiccups/slowdown in the menus. One weird glitch I saw was on dirt tracks, the plumes of dirt seem to be transparent and can be seen through hills and can be seen coming out of the middle of the back of the car. Still use recommended hacks for maximum performance. Bios v 2.0 was used.
==Hacks and Performance==
*MTVU may increase speed in quad cores, in dual-cores it increases depending on the race but may cause slowdown in others.
*Other hacks cause crashes or game won't boot., *This game requires a ton of personal tinkering to get it to run decent., *This game has very, VERY high requirements. Don't expect a smooth or stable game. Heavy slowdown often. Mostly depends on track, lights and the amount of cars on screen.
*"Allow 8-bit textures" in GSdx may help with speed a bit more and maybe reduce the Vram slowdowns.
|Description=Crashes pretty often. Happens because of spikes in VRam use.
|Workaround=

# If you get lots of crashes during license tests use lower internal resolution in GSdx or use ZeroGS or ZZOgl, expect much slower speeds from using the last two.
# In GSDX HW AA causes the game to crash alot so set it to 0, running the game with native res seems to help as well.
# Additionally in Windows XP even in native resolution you may get instant crashes when starting races if you don't have enough VRam, using a custom resolution lower than 512x512 seems to help.

Welcome to the PCSX2 Wiki and make yourself at home!

You are free to contribute to this wiki if you have information to correct, update, or add here. Be sure to read these simple steps to be more productive and helpful.

First of all if you are new to wikis, take your time to check out this '''[[Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Tutorial|tutorial]]'''.

* Before creating a new game article please verify whether the game is already present in the wiki - use the search box on the left panel. As you should know many games have multiple releases, depending on revision and region. Therefore each game article may contain several infoboxes: one for each revision/region. For example the page for [[Drakan - The Ancients' Gates]] contains two infoboxes, one for the PAL release and another for the NTSC release. Thus there is no need to create new pages for each different region or release of the same game - instead, just add new infoboxes on the exisiting page as necessary.

* When creating a new game page please ensure that you name it exactly after the original PS2 title. This will help to avoid any confusion in the future.

* For the sake of consistency and more efficient editing each game page may contain a number of predefined templates. The general article flow goes like this:

** '''Template infobox''' -- used to show region information, box-art picture as well as some general info about the game. See usage info [[Template:Infobox|here]].
** Test tables (separated for Windows, Linux and Macintosh), each table use three templates: '''TestingHeader''','''TestingEntry''' and '''TestingFooter'''. See usage info [[Template:TestingEntry|here]].
** Any additional sections like picture gallery, PCSX2 configuration examples, etc...
** Any number of '''Issue''' templates. See usage info [[Template:Issue|here]].
** Any additional links or page references.

It looks something like this:

{{infobox game
It's easy to update such pages as you only have to enter each variable's values after the equals ('''=''') sign. However, when you create a new page it will be empty so you will need to copy a sample infobox from any existing page and then correctly edit the values. For variables to which you do not know what to enter, leave them blank. Copy the Mac and Linux infoboxes as well but if you did not test them, leave their values blank and put a note saying 'untested' so players who tested on those platforms can fill up the variables later.

* Values like serials, CRCs, release dates, and statuses are distinguished by '''region''' type. Find your region (be it PAL, NTSC-U or NTSC-J) and update the value accordingly. So for instance if you want to set the game as playable on Windows and your region is NTSC-U, assign '2' to 'statusNTSCU' variable.
* '''Status''' values are numeral, please do not set it to something like 'playable', it won't work. Use '2' to show that the game is playable, 1 = goes ingame, 0 = is broken. Remember, use the Preview button to make sure your edit shows up correctly before actually saving the page.
* '''Genre''' value can be any text but please be advised to stick to the current defined game categories (Action, Adventure, Arcade, Compilation, Casual, Fighting, Horror, MMO, Minigames, Shooter, Sports, Platformer, Puzzle, Racing, Remake, RPG, RTS are currently defined, please propose more [[Talk:Help! How to contribute guide|on the talk page]]). You can use any combination of these words to set up the game category. For example, setting genre to "Action-Adventure,RPG" automatically stores this game under Action, Adventure and RPG categories simultaneously. And if the genre is "Extreme Sports" the game will be categorized as [[:Category:Sports|"Sports"]]. You can also add categories by hand if necessary.
* You can set as many genres as you like delimiting them by commas (ex. "Action,Adventure,Fighting,Minigames"). This will put the game in all those categories simultaneously.
* Before committing the changes please confirm that they are correct by using Preview button. Fix any errors you may have inadvertently made and keep previewing until you are finally satisfied with all your edits - only then should you save the page. This will help you from committing multiple updates to correct each error as you find them.

* When uploading pictures please crop unnecessary parts and name them according to the PS2 game title (for example, [[:File:Drakan2-shot1.png|this file]]).
* '''CRCs''' are special hexadecimal numbers uniquely identify the main executable game file (i.e. each game modification has its own CRC). You can find this value near the beginning of the console (activate it in Misc/Show Console menu) log. The line with it will look like this:

'''
ELF (cdrom0:\SLPS_259.15;1) CRC=0x0A70CB4C, EntryPoint=0x00100008'''
'''

The real CRC is the string after 0x, e.g. from the line above the real CRC is 0A70CB4C. 0x is added in 0.9.7, 0.9.6 simply shows real CRC in its console window e.g. CRC = 0A70CB4C

CRC is not particularly important but for the sake of completeness it can be provided (PCSX2 will identify your game and apply [[Game cheats|patches or cheats]] using it).

== I found the page and I want to add my specs to the test table ==

Let's say you found the game's page here on the wiki and it already has some information that you don't feel needs updating, but you'd like to mention that it plays better/worse on your computer. For this kind of information, find (or add) your platform and append '''Template:TestingEntry''' right before '''<nowiki>{{TestingFooter}}</nowiki>'''. It will look like this:

If you have already '''searched''' for the game you wish to edit information for on this wiki, but it doesn't exist, you can create it yourself. Don't worry, it's easy and only takes a minute!
You can create a new page by adding the complete game name into the following input box (please make sure it is correctly spelled, you can check the spelling in [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page wikipedia] or on any game site like, for instance, [http://www.gamespot.com gamespot]) and then pressing the button. The empty game infobox will be added on your new page so you'll be able to fill it up as you see fit:
|gameinfo = BMX XXX is a 2002 video game published by Acclaim Entertainment and developed by Z-Axis. While primarily a BMX-based action sports title, it earned most of its notoriety for containing nudity, foul language and adult humor. The game allows the player to create female characters that are fully topless and view live-action video clips of real life strippers, also with bare breasts. While the adult content garnered a great deal of publicity for the game, it was almost entirely negative, and it was eventually released to dismal reviews and poor sales.

Try to avoid any combination of '''EE CycleRate''' and '''VU Cycle Stealing''', most often it will lead to false fps readings and slowdowns instead of more speed. MicroVU can be faster in some game areas, so try it if you get low fps somewhere. Running the game as an ISO image directly from your hdd is also a good idea. If you have either Windows Vista or Windows7 use the "[[GSDX#Hardware requirements|DirectX10/11 (Hardware)]]" renderer option in GSDX, it's usually faster and more compatible than the DirectX9 one. The '''VSync''' option in the settings of "GS Window" settings should be deactivated, use the '''Frame Limiter''' of PCSX2 to keep your game from running too fast. And last but not least: try the latest public beta of PCSX2 for more speed.

Many reaction-based minigames are easier, if you use the '''Slow Motion Adjust''' toggle (Shift+Tab), as the speed of the gameplay will be slowed down by half (or what you have set in the GS tab for the toggle. On the other hand you can fast forward long conversations or your level grinding by disabling the '''FPS Limit''' completely, if your computer is able to run this game at considerably more than 60 FPS with either the '''Turbo Adjust''' toggle (Tab) or disabling '''Frame Limiter''' completely (F4).
|gameinfo = In the aftermath of the terrible war started by Sigma in the previous game, the human race has constructed a new line of Reploids to help them expand beyond Earth's shattered remains and colonize the untouched Moon. Unfortunately, Sigma has corrupted these Reploids with his sinister DNA and its up to X, Zero, and Axl to stop him before it's too late. And so begins Mega Man X8, a PlayStation 2 exclusive that mixes the 3D aspects of X7 and the old-school gameplay of X6. Also know as '''Rockman X8''' (JP)
Playing on the PS2, you will see all the object balls slow down and eventually stop without having to hit the edge or another object ball.
|Workaround=Set '''EE Round Mode''' to '''Nearest'''.
|gameinfo = Beatmania IIDX11: IIDXRED (with RED standing for "Revolutionary Energetic Diversification") is the 11th game in the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beatmania_IIDX Beatmania IIDX] series of music video games. It was released in arcades by [[Konami]] in 2004. The game features many new songs, some of which are unlocked over Konami's [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-Amusement e-Amusement] platform. As suggested by the title, IIDXRED's color scheme is red and black, and was one of the first versions to not use the word "style" to denote its version and have a legitimate theme (a pattern that would continue on later versions).
