Game description: For centuries, the planet Hillys has been bombarded by a relentless alien race. In Beyond Good and Evil, a rebellious action reporter named Jade sets out to capture the truth behind the invasion. Armed with her camera, dai-jo staff, and fierce determination, you must guide Jade as she discovers shocking evidence leading to a horrific government conspiracy and is forced to battle an evil she cannot possibly fathom. With the ability to perform stealth techniques, dai-jo staff moves, and tag-team fighting combos, you can stop at nothing to expose the truth.
Beyond Good & Evil is an action-adventure game with elements of puzzle-solving and stealth-based games. The player controls the protagonist, Jade, from a third-person perspective. Jade can run, move stealthily, jump over obstacles and pits, climb ladders, push or bash doors and objects, and flatten herself against walls. As Jade, the player investigates a number of installations in search of the truth about a war with an alien threat.

Known Issues

Broken water rendering

  • Status: Active
  • Type: Major
  • Description: Water rendering is broken during hovercraft sections in both renderers.
  • Workaround: Enable Auto Flush in the "Hacks" tab for Hardware or in the Software Mode settings. This doesn't fully resolve the issue as the water will still show in a red hue. It should be noted that in HW mode the game still have other graphical issues. Fixed in build v1.7.2459, but you still need to enable Auto Flush.

Sound freezes in game

  • Description: The sound may freeze when the player is fighting certain enemies.
  • Workaround: None

Fixed Issues

Completely broken graphics

  • Status: Fixed
  • Type: Serious
  • Description: After loading a new game, graphics become broken in hardware mode.
  • Workaround: Fixed in emulator version 1.7.0. For older versions: Use Software mode.
